Slough Immigration Aid Unit (SIAU) is a charity giving specialist legal advice and representation in some aspects of UK immigration, nationality and refugee law. SIAU is a registered charity and is regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner.
We provide legal advice, assistance and representation to people who live, work or study in Slough and neighbouring areas, and their families, who have difficulties with some aspects of UK
immigration, nationality or refugee law. We also advise on the rights of EEA nationals and their families.
SIAU used to see people by appointment in our office, four days a week, but since March 2020 we have mainly provided advice and information over the phone, or by email. We usually staff the office once a week when we may see people, by appointment only.
SIAU provides a free service to people on low income and who would have qualified financially for Legal Help (previously known as Legal Aid). Most immigration law matters were taken out of the scope of Legal Help in April 2013. Where people’s income or savings are too high to qualify for Legal Help, we work on a cost recovery basis, meaning we charge a fee to cover our costs for representation only; we do not make any profit. We do not charge for advice. We aim to provide a competent, well-informed and friendly service.
During the covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns and up to now, SIAU's office is not usually open. We are not mainly working there or seeing people there or answering our office phone number. Please email us on info.siau@gmail.com with queries, and give us your full address and phone number, and we will get back to you. If it is impossible to email, please phone 0798 595 6757.
